 Sep 06 2025 Update 1.80 - Kick protection Today, we're happy to present you with update 1.80! In this update, we've completely removed all older versions of protection against disconnections and networking issues. And we've replaced them with our newest system, specifically designed to act fast and with high accuracy! The new kick-protection kicks less than 0.5 seconds once you've experienced a disconnection. It means that the game detects the disconnection before your client realizes it. If you die during the protection, once you login you'll login at the place you died, and you are protected against monsters for 10 seconds, unable to move the character, so you have a chance to act before "hell breaks loose". If you die in odd places, such as inside quests or similar, you might be teleported to the temple instead. The kick-protection only considers PVM, which means it will not protect you against PVP-related deaths. Due to the switchness and accuracy of this new system, there are no limitations on how many times per day you can die and be protected. Which is great news for those who want to play, but might for the time have a very unstable internet. The system is close to impossible to abuse, due to its swiftness and accuracy, but to ensure no abuse takes place, information is collected on each death-protection. With this update, the following fixes/improvements have been released: - Fixed a glitch that sometimes made items vanish from the market.
- Fixed a glitch that made self-inflicted damage show in messages as a target without a name.
- Fixed a glitch that caused NPC Aldo to be unable to repair soft boots with time left on them.
- Fixed a glitch in the NPC system that made NPC's unable to have other talkradius than the default (especially important for some mystery NPCs).
- Upgraded the graphical engine to run smoother and present correct FPS to a wider range of systems.

 Aug 30 2025 Update 1.13 - Client Improvements Today, we're releasing client version 1.13 that comes with improvements! Besides some background upgrades and performance boosting upgrades, we have 3 points worthy of mention. - Made the battle window able to properly save the status of creature buttons (show/hide).
- Improved connection handling towards the Core-Series network, reducing the load while acting quickly when problems occur, such as disconnects.
- Greatly improved the anti-stuck system to quicker and better unfreeze your character. (latency, loss of packets m.m could sometimes result in the character not being where it's supposed to be, "invisible" next to your visual character).

Aug 29 2025 Update 1.12 - Multi client, game worth, fixes Today, we're happy to present you with update 1.12! In this update, we've made some fundamental changes in ShadeCores, in the hope that it will benefit the game in the long run! Multi Clienting We've removed the traditional multi-client blockage in the client, which allows you to run multiple instances of the client. This will benefit worlds with low populations, to give players a fair chance at making their own supplies rather than either having to choose between trying to buy supplies for many days/weeks, or to make their own while being completely unable to do any fulfilling things, such as hunting. This also benefits those who enjoy watching CAMs while being in-game, as they will now be able to remain online and start CAMs of their choice instead of logging out while checking CAMs. Notice that there have been rule changes concerning multi-clienting, from now on, you're allowed to MC up to 3 characters in the entire ShadeCores. Logging in any more characters and you'll find yourself punished rather quickly. Check out the new rules here: Please note that the rules of MC could potentially be changed in the future. Game Worth As the threat of external destruction has been excessive, and something that will never perish, we had to design a system that makes it harder for retired players to kill active players. This is a system with low impact on active players, with relatively high impact on people who'd only want to login to kill innocent players without interacting with the game itself. Notice that you can disable the view for game worth for a more classic view (description in the link) World Transfers We have finally opened up transfers from Eternia to Secura. This has always been the plan since Secura was released, though we've always wanted to wait until Secura caught up with Eternia. But since a lot of players have felt hopeless being harassed, and not wanting to abandon their character, they've spent a small eternity building, retiring from ShadeCores altogether has been on the menu. We know that some would rather see Eternia caged and nobody can leave it to "boost" numbers, but we'd rather see players remain active in ShadeCores by going Secura, than them leaving ShadeCores entirely. Other We've fixed a glitch in the client that caused skill progress bars not to save properly (open/closing bars). Besides these changes/fixes, we've also made various fixes and improvements around the game, client, and website (mostly background-related). In this update, we've fixed the following issues: - Fixed a glitch that could cause the game to freeze for a period of time.
- Fixed an issue where NPCs sometimes took items without paying for them (container-related).
- Fixed a glitch that stopped the summoned Ferumbras from spawning.
In this update, we've also made it impossible for wild monsters to hurt each other. We know many aren't really supporting such a "feature", however, the recent years of development have now caught up to a point where, in some places, you can get close to free loot by letting the monsters kill each other with their AOE spells, rather than kill them yourself. We hope that even if you're against it, you understand why we needed the change, to ensure places that are supposed to be hard stay hard and players aren't assisted by the monsters' AOE damages. Demons killing their own fire elementals will be missed, a sad but necessary change. We've also added a few new creatures and dungeons! New creatures: New Items: 8.0+ styled Corym cave has been added in Port Hope  8.0+ styled Tarantula & Giant Spider cave has also been added in Port Hope  8.0+ styled Wyrm & Elder Wyrm cave has been added to Liberty Bay  Last but not least, we've added a 7.4 styled fortress for Hellflayers, Grimeleeches, and Vexeclaws in Nargor! Be aware, these creatures are not to be trifled with, they're powerful and angry!  After a lot of feedback concerning Djinns & Postman (Rashid) scrolls, we've decided to open them up for all worlds. Previously, they were only available in seasonal worlds. Remember the double experience event coming up this weekend! Sincerely, RetroCores Staff  Jun 29 2025 The hidden crashbug For some time, there's been a hidden system-leak in RetroCores that has had a way of slowly crashing certain worlds. The problem would occur in random worlds, at random times, but due to the nature of the glitch, no errors or logs could pinpoint where the root cause was hiding. After multiple attempts at fixing it last week, it appeared to have vanished on Wednesday, no more crashes were apparent. Only to reappear yesterday, which of course was with a horrible timing! Empera and Harmonia were the worlds that suffered the most, with some other worlds having very few crashes. After much digging, inventing new systems trying to get enough information about this leak, by a happy chance, the root issue was accidentally discovered. And now we can happily announce that the annoying piece of zombie-walking bug is out of RetroCores! Sincerely, RetroCores Staff  Jun 18 2025 Update 1.77 - Summer update followup Today we're happy to present you with update 1.77, which is a followup of the summer update. After feedback and investigation of the summer update, we've made a few changes and improvements to make RetroCores even better! Client Improvements We added the ability to completely mute Loot and Damages channels This option is found in Options > Console. It will make Loot and Damages channel stop blinking when new entries are added!  We've also added an option that will completely hide all damage messages. Of course, only do this if you know what you're doing, as it will hide all damages, even from players or bosses! This option is also found in Options > Console.  Exercise Weapon changes We've changed the exercise dummies of houses to allow all invited players to use them, and not only the owner. However, only one player can train on a dummy at the same time. We've adjusted the training speed of exercise weapons to the following: Distance: 5x Melee: 7x Magic: 45x Druid Improvements After careful consideration, we've switched places of Eternal Winter and Wrath of Nature, there power, size and cost now is opsit. This means that Wrath of Nature is now the more powerful one, costing 1,200 mana, while Eternal Winter is slightly weaker and cost 700 mana. This is to adjust the vocation to have the same fair advantage as sorcerers have with their two UE's. Paladin Improvements We've slightly increased the level yielding damage of burst arrows. We've improved the formula of Divine Calera, making it slightly stronger We've added diamond arrows that do 5x5 circle physical damage based mostly on skill, but a little on level as well. In addition to these improvements, we've fixed some system glitches that had the power to freeze and crash the game when the right conditions were met.
