Jul 16 2026 Update 1.20 -HD, Graphical options, new launcher Today, we're happy to present you with update 1.20! HD Graphics We've increased the base size of the game from the previous 32x32 to 64x64 pixels, enabling us to enhance the graphics of ShadeCores. We've enchanted every sprite of ShadeCores to be as good-looking as possible, as 4x the size, while still keeping the oldschool aspect. Choose which graphics fit you the best Full-HD, HD or Traditional? You can choose which graphics quality you prefer in Client > Options > Graphics -> Graphics Quality. Additional to HD graphics, we've made you able to adjust the thickness of the attack-square You can adjust it in Options > Graphics > Attack square thickness. New core-logic of the client - Controls of the client and loading of the map and assets are separate, a delayed loading of the map/assets will not impact the movements of the character.
- Previously, if something wasn't loaded quickly enough, you could feel it as a micro-stutter (many didn't notice until after testing the new client).
- The client will start much faster than previous clients.
- Many issues related to client crashes on unstable computers have been resolved.
New launcher Visually, there's no difference, but functionality is much greater. It has wider support for various systems. But most importantly, it has a better way of determining what's wrong in case someone cannot start the client, it will take you to the support page that will display exactly what went wrong, and list up possible solutions for that exact problem, rather than having 1 large page with multiple errors and solutions. If your current launcher fails to download the new version, you may need to download it manually (download windows client). If so, you can just replace your old launcher(s) with the new ones (look for identical names in client folder). Sincerely, Core-Series Staff Jul 15 2026 Update 1.19 -Massive improvements Today, we're happy to present you with update 1.19, which brings a lot of improvements to ShadeCores! Massive performance optimizations and improvements: The game will use much fewer resources to run its day-to-day tasks. While also optimizing the communication between the game and client, which results in anything from 30% to 99.9% less usage of bandwidth, depending on what you're doing online. The update is so massive that large parts of the internal game have been completely remade. It impacts the game in a few ways, such as: - Multiple walking-mismatch issues fixed, such as monsters/players getting stuck/frozen.
(rare, but it has happened a few times). - Monsters made smarter and quicker, they will keep up with you as you flee from them!
(Before they would not react on you running away for a second). - The client will always display the correct amount of exp to the next level.
(on rare occasions, it would show wrong before). Website changes: - All official items NPCs/Monsters have are now available on website.
- Information about NPC's items is much more detailed (buying/selling/trading).
- Improved styling and functionality in the library section.
- Spells NPCs are now available on the website, and you can find/search for spells that each NPC sells. (example: haste)
- General optimizations and improvements across whole site.
Spell NPCs improvements: - Spell NPCs are now less sensitive when asking for spells.
- Spell NPCs now recognize all existing spells, and will tell you when asking for spells they cannot teach.
- Improved spell NPCs of Ab'dendriel and offer spells to sorcerers and knights.
- Irea no longer sell spells.
- Shanar no longer sell spells.
NPCs that used to offer spells to druids and paladins are now vocation-exclusive spell teachers: (Ab'Dendriel NPCs) Made the following Edron Spell NPCs into vocation-exclusive: NPC improvements: - Made it possible to buy multiple parcels at the same time from mail-NPCs.
- Asking NPCs for offer will reveal items they sell/buy/trade, additionally, they will reveal if they offer other things such as bank, spells, blessings, boat and more.
- Fixed so items are taken from containers first in all cases, from equipment second if none other exist in inventory.
- Fixed so you cannot sell containers that have items inside them.
- Fixed so you cannot sell items with charges/duration that have been used.
- NPC's now have much better replies to words such as "offer", "buy", "sell", "trade" and a few more, and will properly tell what they sell/buy/trade.
- Spell NPCs have been upgraded to not have keyword conflicts and to be a little more detailed.
- Travel NPCs have been upgraded to not have keyword conflicts.
Almost every NPC will reveal their common services if you ask them for "offer" Depot Anti-Trashing We've created a system to make it harder for players to trash depots of other players. The one standing at the depot, has no limits, while players standing further away, can put max 12 items on the depot per minute (avg 5 seconds between each item). This applies even if there's multiple players trying to trash, giving the victim 5 seconds for each item, which will make it much easier to keep up, clean and collect the item he may have hidden under the trash. Store improvements - Improved the delivery of purchased products.
- Fixed a glitch that allowed you to put house tiles "in the air" around your house.
- Made tile packages stackable.
- Made it possible to "pack" store furniture using a house furniture remover.
- Made it possible to "pack" and recover store tiles using the tile removal package.
Panel Spacer You can now add "panel spacers" to customize where all your windows and containers should be located in your panels! By clicking the button "Space++", you will add a new window of panel spacer that you can place and resize, to make your setup just the way you want to! Minimap upgrades We've added icons for digits, which give you a new way of being able to mark out the map, be it for quests, missions, monsters, or whatever you would imagine using them for! We've also upgraded the minimap so it's within a box, which makes it much easier to move around. This box can also be resized inside the panel, if you want it small or if it should cover the entire panel. We've also added buttons to toggle different modes, which you see as the 2 square-looking buttons on the top-right of the minimap. We've created 3 different modes of the minimap, which you can toggle between either using the buttons, or by hotkey CTRL + M. The newest mode is a free-floating window of the minimap! You can easily resize this window in all 8 directions, move it, and have it anywhere you want. You can also place it naturally above the panels, making it look like it belongs, by using the panel spacers. By using the panel spacers like this. .. .. you could move the minimap above them and have it look like this, without disturbing/hiding anything. Other changes: - Free account players can now travel with boats to FACC places (boats, carpets, and more).
- Updated Golden Account information on the website about travel.
- Made extensive system improvements of NPCs.
- Client network system has been upgraded and will now be much more stable for players with weak internet, such as WIFI.
- Fixed ingame detection for CEST/CET (date messages).
- Made depots global, and added a inbox (QOL & performance related).
- Changed depot item limit from 5,000 to 25,000 items.
- Changed parcel item limit from 3,000 to 5,000 items.
Sincerely, Core-Series Staff
Jul 09 2026 -Short newsBetween July 8-9 there's been major issues in OVH datacenters that negatively affect entire Core-Series, these issues has shut down websites, worlds, networks and load-balancers randomly, the issues originates from OVH doing upgrades that appear not to be rolling out as planned. if a world or website is offline, or if a website isn't updating like it should, or anything weird is going on, it's due to what's happening in OVH. this also affect the network of Core-Series, it may result in loss of connection, or sudden ping spikes. Jul 07 2026 Update 1.18 -General improvements Today, we're happy to present you with update 1.18! With this update, we mark a new era of ShadeCores! We're planning a sort of "do over", breathe life back into ShadeCores. We'll do this by releasing a new PVP world early in the fall. In preparation for executing our vision, we today launch this update which includes some serious background upgrades, improvements and optimizations for the worlds, website and client. We've also collected feedback on how to make ShadeCores better and more appealing, without changing the game too much. And that's something we intend on keeping doing in future, as Core-Series now consists of multiple staff-members rather than a single one, to keep track of ShadeCores at all times. Looking at the history of ShadeCores, we also knew it had some serious funding issues, as the golden account was the primary income, while advertising required for ShadeCores was quite expensive, the past of ShadeCores was burning much more money than it could regenerate. Generally, it means that ShadeCores couldn't handle itself economically. So we took our time to figure out how ShadeCores can increase the incomes, without ruining the overall goal that ShadeCores is supposed to keep up, being hard. And so we came up with some additions to the store that have minimal impact, but that increase funding for ShadeCores. The following new offers are available in the store: - scroll of light (2 days of torch light around the character)
- scroll of full light (3 days of full light around the character)
- anti-idle scroll (7 days of being able to stay idle for 30 minutes, instead of 15)
- key ring (absorb keys)
- gold pouch (unlimited space for gold, as long as you have the cap)
- gold converter (100 charges, ability to change gold, platinum, and crystals back and forth)
- great gold converter (2,000 charges, ability to change gold, platinum, and crystals back and forth)
- multi tool (rope, shovel, pick in one tool)
- all common bags and backpacks.
Further details, such as prices and functions, can be found in the client store. General changes: - Massive optimizations and systematic improvements.
- Made spawns slightly faster by nature.
- Made spawns never slower than if there were 450 players online.
- Made spawns not blocked by players on other floors.
- Made Ankrahmun tomb spawns have a normal respawn time. (previously it was double time below flames).
Due to the massive background changes, there may be a few problems that arise, we'll be on alert to fix any issues found as soon as possible, and we appreciate anyone taking the time to report any issues found. We hope this update brings you some hope, that ShadeCores shall flare up soon enough! Sincerely, Core-Series Staff Jul 03 2026 Update 1.04 -Namechange, performance, quality Today, we're happy to announce update 1.04! Today, we've changed the name of the game to avoid confusion. Classic-RetroCores has been very confusing for many, especially when jumping between the games. For this reason, we decided to rename it to ClassiCores! General changes: - Extreme optimizations of the game to not be affected by things that could potentially become heavy (heavy chars, large market changes, m.m).
- Made depots global, and added a depot inbox (as agreed with the community).
- Changed the size of the depot box to 36 slots.
- Changed depot item limit from 20,000 to 25,000 items.
- Changed parcel item limit from 3,000 to 5,000 items.
- Remade the autowalk system of the client (map/click walking).
- Correction of abort autowalking (ESC or "stop" button did not stop the character).
- Correcting a small misalignment between game and client, which could result in a "confused" character.
- Improved store performance and delivery speed.
Sincerely, Core-Series Staff
Jun 25 2026 Client launcher update The time has come to improve our client launcher. Visually, there's no difference, but functionality is much greater. It has wider support for various systems. But most importantly, it has a better way of determining what's wrong in case someone cannot start the client, it will take you to the support page that will display exactly what went wrong, and list up possible solutions for that exact problem, rather than having 1 large page with multiple errors and solutions. Due to the nature of the launcher, being the master of the client files and updater, it tends to tickle both Windows and antiviruses when being young and not widely used. For this reason, you may get warnings the first few days, "Do you trust this software?". These warnings will vanish as the launcher becomes older and is used by multiple players (usually within a week). On some warnings, you may need to click "more info" and "run anyway" to start the launcher. If your current launcher fails to download the new version, you may need to download it manually (download windows client). If so you can just replace your old launcher(s) with the new ones (look for identical names in client folder). We updated the launcher to prepare us for a bigger future and make it easier for staff and players.
