Jun 29 2025 The hidden crashbug For some time, there's been a hidden system-leak in RetroCores that has had a way of slowly crashing certain worlds. The problem would occur in random worlds, at random times, but due to the nature of the glitch, no errors or logs could pinpoint where the root cause was hiding. After multiple attempts at fixing it last week, it appeared to have vanished on Wednesday, no more crashes were apparent. Only to reappear yesterday, which of course was with a horrible timing! Empera and Harmonia were the worlds that suffered the most, with some other worlds having very few crashes. After much digging, inventing new systems trying to get enough information about this leak, by a happy chance, the root issue was accidentally discovered. And now we can happily announce that the annoying piece of zombie-walking bug is out of RetroCores! We hope you'll enjoy RetroCores and that the problems of late haven't affected your feelings for us too drastically! Sincerely, RetroCores Staff Jun 23 2025 Empera launching on June 27! Sincerely, RetroCores Staff Jun 18 2025 Update 1.77 - Summer update followup Today we're happy to present you with update 1.77, which is a followup of the summer update. After feedback and investigation of the summer update, we've made a few changes and improvements to make RetroCores even better! Client Improvements We added the ability to completely mute Loot and Damages channels This option is found in Options > Console. It will make Loot and Damages channel stop blinking when new entries are added! We've also added an option that will completely hide all damage messages. Of course, only do this if you know what you're doing, as it will hide all damages, even from players or bosses! This option is also found in Options > Console. Exercise Weapon changes We've changed the exercise dummies of houses to allow all invited players to use them, and not only the owner. However, only one player can train on a dummy at the same time. We've adjusted the training speed of exercise weapons to the following: Distance: 5x Melee: 7x Magic: 45x Druid Improvements After careful consideration, we've switched places of Eternal Winter and Wrath of Nature, there power, size and cost now is opsit. This means that Wrath of Nature is now the more powerful one, costing 1,200 mana, while Eternal Winter is slightly weaker and cost 700 mana. This is to adjust the vocation to have the same fair advantage as sorcerers have with their two UE's. Paladin Improvements We've slightly increased the level yielding damage of burst arrows. We've improved the formula of Divine Calera, making it slightly stronger We've added diamond arrows that do 5x5 circle physical damage based mostly on skill, but a little on level as well. In addition to these improvements, we've fixed some system glitches that had the power to freeze and crash the game when the right conditions were met. We appreciate all the feedback we've gotten from both the forum and in the game! And we hope you're enjoying RetroCores! Sincerely, RetroCores Staff Jun 16 2025 Summer Update -1.76 Today, we're happy to present you with update 1.76! NPC Improvements - Fixed so items are taken from containers first in all cases, from equipment second if none other exist in inventory.
- Fixed so you cannot sell containers that have items inside them.
- Fixed so you cannot sell items that have imbuements on them.
- Fixed so you cannot sell items with charges/duration that have been used.
General fixes - Improved food drop of many monsters that were supposed to drop multiple meat/hams, but only dropped single items.
- Fixed the drop of essence of vampire, which vanished after the major update (1.74).
- Fixed Laguna Islands boats that didn't accept bank balance.
- Fixed a bunch of walls that couldn't support hangables such as tapestries.
- Made so players get full health and mana at level up.
- Fixed a glitch that sometimes could add bought items as "used supplies" in Loot stats window.
Imbuement fixes - Fixed so you cannot add multiple weapon element imbues to the same item.
- Fixed so items that are commonly transformed cannot be imbued, such as worn soft boots, helmet of the ancients, and a few others.
- Fixed a glitch where skill-point imbues would remove skills when dequiped, even if the skill was not added due to level limitations.
- Fixed a glitch where health-points imbues in some situations would remove twice the health when dequiped.
- Fixed a glitch where some imbues would cause a block for refreshments after out-leveling a current imbue.
- Fixed a glitch that caused mana point imbues to not reset the current amount of mana on dequip.
- Fixed a glitch where items that used to have imbues, will send warnings about level limitations even when the imbues no longer exists on them.
- Fixed NPC Arcil that wouldn't remove certain imbues.
Depot Anti-Trashing We've created a system to make it harder for players to trash depots of other players. The one standing at the depot, has no limits, while players standing further away, can put max 12 items on the depot per minute (avg 5 seconds between each item). This applies even if there's multiple players trying to trash, giving the victim 5 seconds for each item, which will make it much easier to keep up, clean and collect the item he may have hidden under the trash. Channels, damage statistics window - Added option to hide/show player levels of messages in channels.
- Added an option to have loot messages sent to Default or Loot channel.
- Added an option to have damage messages sent to Default or Damages channel.
- Added an option to highlight damages and player names in damage messages.
- Improved loot messages to absorb multiple of the same item into one item with a total count for clearer messages.
- Added option to hide the entire loot message if no highlighted items were present.
- Added statistics window for damage taken/dealt during a session.
Now you can finally choose if you want to see the level of players who talk or not. You find the option in Option > Console And your default channel can be clean, if you want.. You have full power to have the loot and damage messages in a traditional way, or if you prefer having separate channels for them! Notice that you can open/close those channels on your own terms! These options are found in Options > Console This is what it looks like if you highlight the damages and player names in your damage messages In Options > Messages, you find this option! What it means is that only loot messages with active highlights will be visible! Which means that if you for example disable all highlights, and then put a custom highlight specifically for dragon shield, you will not get any loot messages at all, unless it contains a dragon shield! This works with default highlights (based on values), and by custom highlights where you set highlight color on specific items. And the mothership of damages! The damage statistics window! In this window you will be able to keep track of your power! Along with it you'll know what damages your enemies uses, and will greatly help you from an opinion of what equipment might be fitting! Exercise weapons In this update, we've added exercise weapons and exercise dummies, allowing you to train your skills 10-20 times faster than traditional training, depending on the chosen skill. These weapons are not purchasable from the client store, but are bought exclusively from NPCs. The price of these weapons is 100,000 gold per hour, and they are available as 30 min, 6 hour and 12 hour weapons. They will serve as a great way to boost your skill, while cleaning the world of excessive gold. Thanks to that they're not purchaseable from the client store, and the price is fairly steep, they are auto-balancing, making them quite rare in fresh worlds, for the reason that there wouldn't be enough gold for players to use on boosting skills. Store improvements - Fixed a glitch that allowed you to put house tiles "in the air" around your house.
- Fixed house furniture remover that didn't work on some newer items.
- Made tile packages stackable.
- Added owner attributes to store items (some store items can only be used by owner account, while others can only be unpacked by owner but used by all who are invited).
- Made it possible to "pack" store furniture using a house furniture remover.
- Made it possible to "pack" and recover store tiles using the tile removal package.
- Made it impossible to move house-items with owner properties outside the house.
- Added hundreds of new house items to the store.
- Upgraded the store's supply section to better fit with the new nature of RetroCores (changed amounts and made cheaper for most items).
- Dummy scroll will now be sent to the depot if it was despawned by training-player being pushed away by another player.
Store specifics -House - The number of available house-tiles has more than doubled.
- Added home depot that enable you to access depot, inbox and market from your house.
- Added sales mailboxes (Common, Djinn, Rashid), that is used to instantly sell single items, or backpacks filled with random items.
- Added specials section on website that shows more detailed info on home depot and sales mailboxes.
- Added exercise dummies for those who wish to train in the comfort of their home.
- Added more beds.
- Added quite a few furniture options such as chairs, tables, cabinets and more.
- Added a new category "House Others" which contains tapestries, various decorations, statues, plants and more.
Forbidden islands As to further add content to the game and interesting things to explore, we have added a 8.0+ styled forbidden islands! Important notes about Forbidden Island before rushing into it: - Require traditional boat access (Liberty Bay > Weston "accident").
- No further access is needed for island access.
- Mountain has modified spawns more fit for mid-high levels.
- Mountain caves have spawns fit for high levels.
- The south surface-cave entrance leading to deeper cults is traditional.
Other - Battle list window will now remember which hide-buttons were pushed when the client is restarted.
- Skills window will now remember which progress-bars were hidden when the client is restarted.
- Added Morgaroth & Ghazbaran.
- Added assassin outfit and addons.
Sincerely, RetroCores Staff

Apr 18 2025 Update 1.74 -The Major Update Today we're thrilled to finally present you with version 1.74... The Major Update! This update has been planned, prepared, and worked on since the fall of 2024, and contains thousands of hours of hard work! In this update, we have reviewed the total state of RetroCores, and how to keep it relevant and interesting! We all love 7.4, that's the truth, however.. after so many years it gets very stale and there's only so much you can do if you must respect every aspect of 7.4, RetroCores was for too long stuck in a phase of "barely anything new". To keep the game interesting, ensure that it can keep offering both new and old players as much entertainment as possible, especially our most loyal players who have stayed for years, who have insane levels and have been suffering from a lack of content that keeps them busy, lack of areas worth to visit, we are now adding new dimensions to RetroCores! Enough chatter, let's see what happened in this update! Sincerely, RetroCores Staff Mar 11 2025 Update 1.11 - Client network Today we're releasing client version 1.11 which brings further improvements to the client network. The client will now to a better degree handle questionable internet connections that swing a lot in latency. Our goal is to ensure the game is smooth and stable even for those who might be playing while using unstable internet such as WIFI which can shift a lot in both latency and stability. Sincerely, ShadeCores Staff Mar 05 2025 Update -Quest list improvements Today we're happy to announce that we've improved our quest-list available on the website. You've always been able to see the full official list, and also see your character's status and which quests you've solved. You've also been able to look into a quest and see how many times it's been completed. But with this update, we've upgraded the style and made the list more complex, by adding a filter! You can now search for characters directly in the list, you can choose to see all, complete or unfinished quests, show quests in specific town, and sort by name, level, or location. You can also show the list based on a world, in which case it will show the total list which quests that have been solved in that world. Additionally to this, we've added information within quests, that will display how many times the quest has been looted per world, and in total. It's now easier than ever, to identify quests that might never been solved yet, or not solved in a specific world. It's also much easier to determine how many times a quest has been looted in a specific world. Sincerely, ShadeCores Staff Mar 04 2025 Update 1.10 - Client network Today we're releasing client version 1.10 which brings a rewamp of the client network. The new networking will lower the chance of getting disconnected for those who have very sensitive computers that easily block connections it think are malicious. Additionally, the new networking will also reduce the chance of getting follow-up kicks after a disconnect which has happened a few players who can get kicked up to 10 times every minute. We hope this update will make the game more stable for those who have suffered connectivity issues.
