Today is a big day for RetroCores, and we're thrilled to announce the client update 1.85!
A new generation of game client!

For the majority of people, the client of RetroCores has, for many years, been one of the smoothest clients out there!
Today, we're releasing a new-generation of client, which makes RetroCores client THE smoothest client for the majority of people!

What's different?
The client now uses about 70% less RAM!
Controls of the client and loading of the map and assets are separate, a delayed loading of the map/assets will not impact the movements of the character.
Previously, if something wasn't loaded quickly enough, you could feel it as a micro-stutter (many didn't notice until after testing the new client).
The client will start much faster than previous clients.
Many issues resolving client crashes on unstable computers have been resolved.

Depending on your computer, hardware, and software, you may notice a small to a big improvement!
Some may get a little more FPS, while others may get double the FPS, and in some semi-rare cases, some may get over 500% more FPS.
For a very few, you might get slightly less FPS, but increased smoothness.

I recommend everyone to do a quick test to determine which client to use!
Between the DX and OGL versions, there's been a huge change, OGL is the best client for the majority!
This includes people who previously used DX as the main client!

This will greatly help a lot of people make the right choice and improve their gameplay!

Today we had to run a second server-save to correct a mistakes in creature behavior there some monsters would run into teleports.

We are happy to present the new edition of Zenera, which is launching it's 7:th season!
Launching on Feb 27 at 17:00 CET!

What is Zenera?
Zenera is our seasonal world, which offers a quicker startup pace than our other worlds offer.
It's also a more loose world, less strict.

The previous edition of Zenera had an exp system that made it nearly impossible to become higher than level 150.
In this new edition, that's not a problem anymore!
(prev season launched at Nov 22 of 2024, almost 1,5 year ago)

Since Zeneras last season, a lot of things have changed in RetroCores, content, abilities, and logic.

Obtain 3 days of golden account for free!
Everyone who manages to login the first hour of Zenera will gain 3 days of golden account.
Meaning between 17:00 - 18:00 CET on Feb 27.

Rates of Zenera

• 14x - 2x exp, Rates of Staged Worlds.
• 5x skills
• 2x magic
• 2x loot
• regen: view staged regen.

Additional differences

• Built-In Rune-Maker are available.
• Equipment upgraded after Rookgaard.
• All spells are free of charge.
• Rings/Items give 2x more regen.
• You can right-click change gold.
• Desert-Quest is soloable.
• Item-Hotkeys are available.

Golden Account Differences
We want to point out and highlight for people who haven't noticed that there are some differences with golden account in this world!

• Free accounts are able to travel with Ships/Carpets.
• Free accounts are able to access all cities.
• Free accounts are able to use all spells.

No supplies available in the client store!
We would also like to point out, as of the previous update, RetroCores no longer has any supply store available in the client!
It has been permanently removed!
In addition to the removed supplies, we can inform you that we do not offer bless/AOL either.

The reward of playing a seasonal world
At the end of a season, a reward will be given out in the form of account boost events.
Counting the highscores (exp), players will receive X days of +50% exp event, and X days of +50% skill event that can be activated in any world.

• Top 10: 10 days.
• Top 50: 8 days.
• Top 100: 7 days.
• Top 200: 6 days.
• Top 300: 5 days.
• Everyone above level 50: 4 days.
• Everyone above level 20: 3 days.

Today, the 10% exp-bonus for being a golden account in staged worlds has been removed.
This affects Solera and Zenera.

Additionally, item-hotkeys has been enabled in Solera!

Today, we're thrilled to finally present you with the major update, version 1.84!

In this update, we've added the full island of Oramond, which includes Rathleton and Krailos!

Good to know, we have not included any of the original quests of Oramond, the quests that exist in Oramond are completely custom for RetroCores!
With Oramond, comes a great many new areas and creatures to hunt!

The first and most well-known area of Oramond, "high minotaurs".

Besides Oramond, we've added a few other dungeons!

We added a dungeon for Falcon Knights & Paladins!

More powerful Ogres (Beware, these ogres are even more powerful than originally intended)

A place of holy ancients!

Another place of semi-holy ancients

An ancient tomb of Edron

And then two places of Were-creatures, also in Edron.

In total, we've added more than 70 new creatures!
63 of them are available on the creature list, while the others are hidden for various reasons.
Please know that, as you might have faced similar creatures in other games, some of them might be more powerful or different than you're used to.
So be cautious in case you've decided to run straight into "the pit" without testing them out first.

In this update, we've also added no less than 15 new outfits, 14 of which come with addons!

We've also added mounts to RetroCores!
There are 11 mounts to obtain!

 

We have also added separate countdowns for the spells Blood Rage and Sharpshooter in the client,t so you now know how much time is left on them after casting!

 

We've added support to hold quivers in your right hand, together with bows/crossbows!

You can choose yourself, if you wish to use the arrow slot, or your right hand!
Beware that ammo without a quiver can still only be used in the arrow slot, while a quiver works both in the arrow and right-hand slot.
The arrow slot has priority, while the right hand comes second, meaning that if you have ammo present in both slots, it will use whatever in the arrow slot first!
 

Additionally to this update, we've made some slight edits on certain monsters for balancing purposes.
Ranorks and Swamplings have been given slightly more health, slightly more experence and slightly more in attack (making previously deadly monsters, once again more dangerous)
We've increased experience gain from Fungi's, to make them more attractive and relevant in RetroCores.
 

Possibility to complete both djinn quests on the same character!
Yes.. finally, you are now able to complete both blue and green djinn quests on one and the same character!
However, there's a slight mystery as to how to, but in time it will be common knowledge, so either get out there and explore, or wait to reap what others have explored and decided to share!
 

Creature Product's sales mailbox!
We have indeed added another sales mailbox dedicated to creature products!
 

Store Supplies removed!
A glitch made the supply-store hidden since update 1.82 (Nov 16), which went almost unnoticed.
Instead of fixing the glitch, we have decided, due to historically low usage, while causing a lot of distrust in new players, to remove the entire category entirely.
As of now, RetroCores is likely never to have a supply store for the client again!
 

On the website, we've done a few useful improvements!
On the quest list, we've added outfits and mounts as well, and we've made sure that you can click into any quest, task, outfit or mount and get information on how many are completed in certain worlds!

We have added mounts information to character auctions!
A box displaying the exact level of imbue-access has also been added to character auctions!

Downloadable minimap
We've updated our official minimap for the client!
Everything below the surface is 1.83 accurate, while surface and above is 1.84 accurate!
(The previous minimap was 1.41 accurate, so basically ancient and very outdated)
 

Fixes:

• Fixed a glitch that could disable zone-systems (Svargrond arena most noticeable) during certain events.
• Fixed an issue where a sales mailbox would take the entire stack of items, even if only moving part of the stack to the mailbox.
• Fixed an issue that made you unable to read text on graves.
• Fixed a glitch that made keys present with subtle but duplicated information.
• Fixed a problem that made loot-stats of golden mug show as 0 looted.
• Fixed some items that said "poison" protection instead of "earth".
• Fixed a problem that could cause the move/resizeable minimap disappear completely.
• Fixed glitch in blue/red legs, which made them act like boxes when monsters walked on them.
• Fixed an issue that prevented you from baking party cakes.

Additions:

• Added Oramond/Rathleton/Krailos.
• Added raid for Gaz'haragoth in Roshamuul.
• Added mounts.
• Added bullseye, berserker, and mastermind potions to the market.
• Added spell countdown for skill-modifying spells.
• Added some older items to Djinns/Rashid, such as crystal sword, abyss hammer, magic sulphur, and more.
• Added 15 new outfits with addons.
• Added mounts information to character auctions.
• Added imbue level access info to character auctions.
• Added ability to view tasks in the character quest list (info on how many has completed).
• Added outfits to the character quest list.
• Added mounts to the character quest list.
• Added the ability to keep quivers in your right hand with bows/crossbows (optional, arrow/right slot both work).
• Added more tasks for very high, high, and mid levels.

Changes

• Made it possible to obtain both djinn quests on the same character (small mystery).
• Added sales mailbox for creature products.
• Updated minimap-download to be full 1.83 below the surface, and full 1.84 above.
• Reworked Health/Mana imbues to only give health/mana if there's a valid reason for it, avoiding abuse.
• Removed the supply-store from client.
• Removed the old imbue abuse system that decayed imbues quickly when equip/dequip imbues many times.
• Changed the name of the tiny creature "Wiggler" to "Grub" due to a name conflict in a newer monster.
• Ranorks and Swamplings have been given slightly more health, slightly more experence and slightly more in attack (making previously deadly monsters, once again more dangerous)
• Rebalanced Fungi's by increasing their experience slightly.

The next major update (1.84) is expected to be released this weekend. An extensive downtime is to be expected during the update.

Early this morning, Empera and Cleanera was affected by an unexpected outage in the host which resulted in downtime for the both worlds, the worlds are back online!

We're currently have a network issue affecting all our worlds, we're working to resolve this as soon as possible.
