Double Experience and skill event!
In the past, we've run a few double exp/skill/loot events, based on feedback, we've decided to change how these events work!
Players often miss out on the events due to their limited time.
Today, we've released our new event system, which is customizable for everyone!
Account Boost Event
Account Boost Events is a system that allow players to customize their own exp/skill boosts and activate them when they have the best chance of making the most of them.
General
This is a system that replaced the traditional "double exp/skill events", that formerly had specific dates of when there was a boost of experience and skill that could cause issues for many.
Some was not able to participate in the events, while others found it hard to actually use it due to suddenly crowded hunting spots.
Account Boost Events allow each and everyone to decide for themselves when to use the available boost, within a certain time of course.
Normally, a boost event is available to activate over the course of a few days, often stretching from one weekend to another.
If there's an account boost event pending, you will be notified as you login to the game!

If you have activated an event, it will also notify you about how long time is left on it!
On your account panel, if there's any events present, you will find them looking something like this

When you activate an event, or login, you will get messages like these notifying you!

If you are online and using a boost when it expires, you will get a message like this

Limitations
- An event can only be activated in 1 world.
- Any activated event, cannot be paused nor modified.
- The duration of the event is not affected by online/offline time.
- Events may sometimes be for specific worlds, which means you might not be able to activate it in the world you would want to.
- You cannot auction any characters once you've activated an event in the same world, until it's globally expired for everyone.
- Skill events only deliver 10% of effective bonus while using exercise weapons.
How to obtain event boosts
- Boosts will be offered a few times every year.
- They may also be offered to specific worlds sometimes.
- You might also be able to win some event boosts of certain events that may offer them as a reward.
Stack functionality
If you would at some point have 2 offers of event of same type, say experience, they would stack the rate, not the time.
For example, you activate event A, which offers you 1.5x rate, it lasts for 2 days.
Then you activate event B, which offers you 2x rate, it lasts for 1 day.
You will now have 2.5x exp ingame for 1 day, after that event B will expire, and you'll now have 1.5x exp for the remaining time until event A expires.
The rate, is applied to your raw input of experience, meaning that any other game modifications will be applied later, in this order:
* = multiplier of exp
- Raw Exp
- * Traditional Rates
- * Event Rates (exp * (rate + rate) = new exp) <-- This is where account boost events are calculated
- * Player various rates
Accounts created while event offer is active
Any global offers of account boost events applies to all accounts, new as old, even if an account is created after the offer has been created.
Expire Time
You cannot activate an event after the offer expire.
An event accepted will adjust the expire time to time of acceptance + duration, which means even if you accept an event with 5 minutes left of offer, you will still get the full duration of the event.
Others
Due to limitations of the game, we cannot have loot based events for now, as creatures are carrying their loot and are affected by it, it would cause some serious miss-matches having loot differ for different players.
If we run double loot or similar, they will remain as before, strict and on limited days.
First event, a test run!
As of this release, we've added 2 events, one double experience, and one double loot.
They have a 3 day duration and the offer will expire on December 13, so you can decide yourself when to activate them, this weekend, or next.. or maybe the middle days as well.
Information about how account boost event work always be available here: FAQ -Account Boost Events.
We hope this comes as glad news for most of you, and that you wont be too upset we cannot do the same with the loot!
Sincerely,
RetroCores Staff

Expected world merges
In the near future, Empera and Valoria are expected to be merged into Amera.
A merge means that the 2 worlds merging into Amera will lose their houses.
Amera will keep the current house status during the merge.
An exact date of the merge doesn't exist, but it will be decided together with the affected players.
We invite active players of Empera and Valoria to comment and discuss possible dates.
Sincerely,
RetroCores Staff

Zenera's 6:th season has ended!
Today the 6:th season of Zenera has ended!
The season was active between November 22 of 2024 and December 1 of 2025.
And we want to thank everyone who was part of it!
Now for the more technical things about the seasonal end.
The 7:th season of Zenera will most likely launch later this year.
What happens now with Zenera, is that it's going into a clean-state where all characters and everything in it will get wiped.
But as many are aware of, characters aren't just removed from Zenera, but converted into pools of exp/skills/magic that you can apply in other worlds.
The pool is added to the account that's currently holding the character, which has been a confusing topic for some when it comes to auctioned characters.
You can find your pools on your account panel:

It will look similar to this, depending on what skills you got pools in:

You can use the pools on any character you want on the account, within the restrictions.
And you can choose if you want to use anything between 10%-100% of the pool.
So if you decide, you can split the pool between multiple characters.
WARNING
Don't wait to use your pools!
You can use them until December 31, after that, the entire skill-pool system will be truncated, and a new form of reward will take its place.
Again, we want to thank you all for being part of Zenera's 6:th season and hope to see you in the 7:th season!
Meanwhile, we hope you'll enjoy the pools you've worked hard for and use them wisely in a timely fashion!
Sincerely,
RetroCores Staff

The 6:th season of Zenera is coming to an end on Nov 30
The 6:th season of Zenera is ending, and the world will be closed on November 30.
When this world resets, your characters will be converted into pools of exp/magic/skills to your account that you can apply to characters in other worlds.
The amount of experience and skill you obtain is based on the effort you put into them.
For example, an hour of training will give you around 20 minutes worth of training to your pool, which means that the skills you'd get back from them will vary depending on what kind of world you're applying them in.
The "reset" will happen the same day Zenera is closed down.
Last season of pools!
This is the last season that characters will be converted into exp/magic/skill pools, in future seasons, characters of Zenera will be merged into Solera instead.
Even though the latest changes in Zenera's experience table, this will not affect how much pool you get, you will still get the same pools as if no changes were made at all.
Other forms of "reward" for participating in seasonal worlds will be present at next season, which is healthier for RetroCores as a whole, and will be announced with next season.
Want to save your character?
Would you rather save your character with its skills and items?
Check out how to do that here:
https://retrocores.com/forum/?thread=1264.
New launches
It's uncertain when the next season of Zenera will launch.
It could come a new season before Christmas, but it is not a guarantee.
If any launch will come this year, it will be announced.
Sincerely,
RetroCores Staff

Update 1.82 - general changes
Today, we're happy to present you with update 1.82, which comes with some changes.
Minimap changes
We've added icons for digits, which give you a new way of being able to mark out the map, be it for quests, missions, monsters, or whatever you would imagine using them for!
Staged worlds
We've remade how experience works in staged worlds, such as Solera and Zenera.
Earlier they had their own custom experience-tables hard-coded, and only gaining 1x from monsters (as usual).
Now staged worlds will use the experience table of normal worlds, and instead gaining more experience from killed monsters.
We do this as the old experience table aren't fit for RetroCores anymore, and were designed to make it impossible for anyone to reach very high levels, dropping rates forever with rating being 0.4x at level 1000.
The new rates can be found here.
This change affects what total experience characters of these worlds have, which has too, been updated to reflect what they would have with the normal experience table.
With the change mentioned above, Zenera & seasonal worlds can be better setup in various manners to match what people would want for a coming season, allowing players to experience different paces, be able to get level enough to explore our ever growing end-game.
Zenera & seasonal changes
Zenera and other possible seasonal worlds of the future will no longer come with resets, whenever it's time for a new season, the old one will be merged into Solera, which will be our new permanent world that takes refugees from past seasonal worlds.
This means that existing characters in Zenera, now and in the future, will remain existing either in Zenera, or in Solera.
Zenera merge
Players of Zenera are expected to be merged into Solera in November or early December.
After that Zenera will be set up for another season, any launch date will be announced once a decision on a date has been made..
End of skill pools
You can no longer obtain any more skill pools.
Existing pools that still remain, will be deleted permanently in early 2026.
If you have any skill-pools left, it's strongly suggested that you use them up before Dec 31, 2025.
Store changes
As of this update, it will become the default in RetroCores that the supplies category (runes, manas, ammo..) will not be available in any fresh world younger than 6 months.
It has been determined that supplies are more harmful in any young world, than helpful, why they will be delayed 180 days starting from a world's launch date.
Plans for the future
We keep adapting RetroCores to keep up with the many changes it has gone through, ensuring that the game remains fun and entertaining!
Our biggest goal is to ensure our most loyal players are happy and remain loyal, and perhaps gain new loyal players!
We keep working on filling the gaps of places to hunt, bringing new interesting content, and ensuring that there's no level range that has fewer places to visit than other ranges.
We are also planning on littering RetroCores with mysteries, from the easiest to the toughest, from the most noobish item, to the epic rares.
But please bear with us while you're waiting for the new mysteries, it may take a little time before they reach us, as we want to be able to provide good lore with the mysteries, which makes them more interesting and more solvable with good detective skills.
Worth mentioning to our players who value the ranks of "best exp day", we are planning on resetting the exp/day history in the near future, and replacing the system of today with a new system that will only present raw exp, making the ranking much more fair and accurate.
Today, the ranks are infected with stats that shouldn't be there, such as exp events, task exp, and other situations that may adjust the numbers to be presented as much larger than the work put into it.
We hope you're enjoying RetroCores, and will stay with us for a very long time!
Sincerely,
RetroCores Staff

Update 1.81 - Fall update
Today, we're happy to present you with the fall update 1.81!
Status change for exercising players
Whenever someone is using exercise dummies, their name will turn orange so you know about it.
This will ensure that you know this player might be really AFK and unresponsive.
Panel Spacer
You can now add "panel spacers" to customize where all your windows and containers should be located in your panels!
By clicking the button "Space++", you will add a new window of panel spacer that you can place and resize, to make your setup just the way you want to!
Minimap
To begin with, we've upgraded the minimap so it's within a box, which makes it much easier to move around.
This box can also be resized inside the panel, if you want it small or if it should cover the entire panel.
We've also added buttons to toggle different modes, which you see as the 2 square-looking buttons on the top-right of the minimap.
We've created 3 different modes of the minimap, which you can toggle between either using the buttons, or by hotkey
CTRL + M.
The newest mode is a free-floating window of the minimap!
You can easily resize this window in all 8 directions, move it, and have it anywhere you want.
You can also place it naturally above the panels, making it look like it belongs, by using the panel spacers.
By using the panel spacers like this. ..
.. you could move the minimap above them and have it look like this, without disturbing/hiding anything.
Roshamuul As we're expanding the variety of RetroCores, and making more places for higher levels to explore, this time we've added Roshamuul, which will be a great place to explore and hunt in.
Boosted Creatures Every day, between server-saves, 4 creatures are chosen to be boosted.
A low, mid, high, and very high level creature, so no matter what, there will always be a boosted creature that's within your range!
Boosted creatures give 50% more experience, loot, and spawn 50% faster.
You can see which creatures are being boosted for the moment in the
creature list.
New Creatures
And our newest generation of power-monsters, designed to be incredibly hard, for very high levels.
These are not monsters you want to underestimate, because they will kill you.
Tasks
We've added the following tasks
Imbues
We've added a new level of imbues to all categories, called "great" which can be accessed with the egg of imbue, which is a level 999 reward item.
Note that one egg can only unlock one group of great imbues, for example, "character support".
You're required to have full access to basic, medium, and strong before you can unlock "great".
Other changes
- Added a new section in tasks for "very high level" to ease the load of the ever-growing high-level tasks.
- Fixed so you cannot damage any creatures in any way while being kick-protected.
- Fixed a glitch in berserker, bullseye and mastermind potion that made them sometimes unable to stack.
- Removed the 999 mystery of godrage weapons and replaced them with the egg of imbue quest.
- Fixed various and random map glitches.
- The list of new items can be found in the recently added list (v1.81).
We've already started planning our winter update, and the next update can be expected within a few months, which will bring even more content and mysteries for all levels to enjoy.
We hope you'll enjoy this fall update, even though it came a little later than expected!
Sincerely,
RetroCores Staff

Update 1.15 - Kick protection
Today, we're happy to present you with update 1.15!
In this update, we're releasing Core-Series newest kick-protection system, specifically designed to act fast and with high accuracy!
The new kick-protection recognizes disconnections less than 0.5 seconds after you've experienced a disconnection.
It means that the game detects the disconnection before your client realizes it.
If you die during the protection, once you login you'll login at the place you died, and you are protected against monsters for 10 seconds, unable to move the character, so you have a chance to act before "hell breaks loose".
If you die in odd places, such as inside quests or similar, you might be teleported to the temple instead.
The kick-protection only considers PVM, which means it will not protect you against PVP-related deaths.
Due to the switchness and accuracy of this new system, there are no limitations on how many times per day you can die and be protected.
Which is great news for those who want to play, but might for the time have a very unstable internet.
The system is close to impossible to abuse, due to its swiftness and accuracy, but to ensure no abuse takes place, information is collected on each death-protection.
Fair warning, X-log does not protect your character!
Sincerely,
ShadeCores Team

Update 1.14 - Djinns & Rashid
Today, we're happy to present you with update 1.14, which finally brings a permanent solution to the excess of items!
Djinns & Rashid
In this update, we've added Green and Blue Djinns, and Rashid as agreed upon with the community after months of consideration.
Note that quests are required to trade with them all, and the quests are mystified and not anything like the original ones.
Also note that you can only do one out of the blue/green djinn quests per character.
Available NPCs:
Trimera
In this update, we've raised the bar of mysteries in Trimera.
This means that many of the "traditional" quests in Trimera have now been reverted back to the mystified quests you'd see in normal worlds.
Note that some unsolved mysteries and lesser-known mysteries still don't exist in Trimera.
We hope you'll enjoy this update!
Sincerely,
ShadeCores Staff
