Jun 25 2026 Client launcher update The time has come to improve our client launcher. Visually, there's no difference, but functionality is much greater. It has wider support for various systems. But most importantly, it has a better way of determining what's wrong in case someone cannot start the client, it will take you to the support page that will display exactly what went wrong, and list up possible solutions for that exact problem, rather than having 1 large page with multiple errors and solutions. Due to the nature of the launcher, being the master of the client files and updater, it tends to tickle both Windows and antiviruses when being young and not widely used. For this reason, you may get warnings the first few days, "Do you trust this software?". These warnings will vanish as the launcher becomes older and is used by multiple players (usually within a week). On some warnings, you may need to click "more info" and "run anyway" to start the launcher. If your current launcher fails to download the new version, you may need to download it manually (download windows client). If so you can just replace your old launcher(s) with the new ones (look for identical names in client folder). We updated the launcher to prepare us for a bigger future and make it easier for staff and players. Jun 07 2026 Double Experience and skill event! The time has come to sharpen your weapons, gather your supplies, it's time for some serious leveling and skilling! Everyone has 3 days of double skill and 3 days of double experience waiting! For those not familiar with account boost events, the experience and skill are two separate events, and you can activate them whenever you want to benefit from the event! The events can be activated from now, and up until the server-save of June 21, 10:00 CEST. And any new accounts, will also be able to benefit from this event as well! Sincerely, RetroCores Staff Jun 05 2026 Update 1.89 -Performance and quality Today, we're happy to present you with update 1.89, which brings you additional performance upgrades! With the previous update and this update, almost all core logic of the game has been rewritten. How the game itself works on a core level is extremely different from earlier versions. The performance from before version 1.87 cannot be compared with the new one. As many of you know, RetroCores is an old game, and has quite a few dedicated players that keeps playing year after year. Every now and then, we've noticed small laggs, to sometimes randomly large lags. Sometimes it's disguised as a ping spike, other times, your character just randomly stops for a second before it starts walking again. Sometimes, it could have been caused by the unstable internet of the player, but many times, it was caused by heavy things running on the game. For example, if a heavy character with many items and statuses login or out, it would affect the game negatively as the game would momentarily freeze while the character was saved/loaded. Heavy characters, along with many other heavy things that exist, will no longer affect the main gameplay. This also means that the market will no longer affect the game either (some players noticed adding/cancel large offers caused spikes). General changes: - Extreme optimizations of the game to not be affected by things that could potentially become heavy (heavy chars, large market changes, m.m).
- Changed the size of the depot box from 30 to 36 slots.
- Changed the size of the depot inbox from 10 to 36 slots.
- Changed depot item limit from 20,000 to 25,000 items.
- Changed parcel item limit from 3,000 to 5,000 items.
- Remade the autowalk system of the client (map/click walking)
We also did some changes to bank-logs (gps) to make them easier on the game and website, and to be less clustered for those looking for more important details such as transfers/house payments: - Removed "balance" from bank logs.
- Remove bank logs of type "use" (NPC handle, etc buying items, travel, m.m).
We also announce that, due to the extensive work on the core of the game, we will enter a period of debugging and hotfixes. We want to encourage everyone who faces any problems caused by these updates to leave us feedback, and to be as detailed as possible so we can more easily understand the problem and work it out. Due to this, there may be additional server-saves and client updates. Sincerely, RetroCores Staff
May 30 2026 Update 1.88 -Performance and quality Today we're releasing update 1.88, which brings massive internal upgrades! In this update, the game will use much fewer resources to run its day-to-day tasks. While also optimizing the communication between the game and client, which results in anything from 30% to 99.9% less usage of bandwidth depending on what you're doing online. The update is so massive that large parts of the internal game have been completely remade. It impacts the game in a few ways, such as: - Multiple walking-mismatch issues fixed, such as monsters/players getting stuck/frozen.
(rare, but it has happened a few times). - Monsters made smarter and quicker, they will keep up with you as you flee from them!
(Before they would not react on you running away for a second). - The client will always display the correct amount of exp to the next level.
(on rare occasions, it would show wrong before). - Health increasing imbues no longer breaks the health-bar ingame when login with imbue activated.
(health at etc 115% instead of 100%). Additional fixes & changes. - Added Tips & Tricks window in the client.
- NPCs that buy empty vials will now offer you 5 gp per vial, and take all in one go, keywords "vial" and "sell vial" will both work.
(prev, you had to say "sell NUMBER vial" and only sell the same amount). - Skill pools have been permanently removed from the game and website.
(as warned on Dec 1, 2025, everyone should have used them before Dec 31 of 2025). - Stream Protection has been permanently removed from the game and website.
(it was used maliciously with or without intention). Sincerely, RetroCores Staff
